I created the cover illustration for the UK edition of Salad Anniversary by Machi Tawara. Inspired by the poetic line, “I love you, I love you not, if only there were as many kinds of love as there are petals,” I visualised the uncertainty, fragility, and shifting emotions of love. The flower field is expressed abstractly through soft gradations, depicting a blurred inner landscape that mirrors an unsettled heart. The layers of pink symbolize the warmth of love, where hope and wistfulness intersect. I aimed to let the quiet rhythm of the poetry flow visually across the cover, creating an illustration that resonates with readers’ subtle emotions each time they turn a page.
